BISHOP ALEXANDER'S BIO

Bishop Dr. Henry B. Alexander is the pastor and founder of the Shield of Faith Christian Center and the founder and Presiding Bishop of the Shield of Faith Fellowship of Churches, International, Inc. The Fellowship consists of over 700 affiliate churches in the United States and World-wide, including countries of Mexico, African countries of Tanzania, Zambia, the Congo, Malawi, Zimbabwe and others, nations in India, Asia, Fiji, and Western Europe nations of England, France, Belgium, Holland and Spain.

Family and Background -

He was first ordained as an elder in the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World in March 1981. Bishop Alexander is married to his wife of thirty-four years, Dr. Marty Alexander (who is also an ordained pastor). 

Bishop Alexander comes from a singularly blessed family, in that all seven surviving brothers are senior pastors of their own churches. His father was for many years an assistant pastor and in later years founded his own ministry. Bishop Alexander founded the Shield of Faith Christian Center as Bethany Community Church of Pomona in April of 1981, and has served it continuously for its 25 years of its existence. Dr. Alexander is the youngest of sixteen children, born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1948.

Educational Attainments -

Bishop Alexander holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology and Social Research from California State University at Los Angeles (1978). He has done post-graduate study at the University of Southern California (in Urban Planning) and at Fuller Theological Seminary (in Biblical Studies), and has earned his Master’s Degree (August 1991), Doctor of Ministry Degree (March 1994) and Ph. D. in Religious Studies (September 1995) from Friends International Christian University in Merced, California.

Christian Faith -

Bishop Alexander first came to saving Christian faith in 1959 under the ministry of Bishop James A. Johnson, in St. Louis, Missouri, and was mentored under the late Bishop Robert W. McMurray of Los Angeles, California.
